Imus: Friend or Foe?

I'm watching The View right now. I'm just not entirely sure what all the fuss is about it.

*Disclaimer: I am not racist. I believe in freedom of speech. *

"Nappy-headed hos."

OK, that's probably the first thing I've said in MY LIFE that's racist.

Personally, I think everyone just needs to get over themselves. Sure, it was wrong (it was kinda funny, too, just that he would say that on the radio). Should he be suspended? No. Should Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson be getting their briefs in a knot? No. Should anyone? Why? There are so many more important things in the world right now than what Imus said about the Rutger's Basketball Team.

And why isn't anyone upset about the "hos"? I'd be more upset about that.

Anyway. There are SO MANY MORE important things in the world than Imus' comment. Let's face it.

THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE DYING IN THE DARFUR!
HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN DYING OF HUNGER IN AFRICA!
THOUSANDS OF OUR YOUNG MEN ARE BEING KILLED IN THE MIDDLE EAST!
WOMEN HAVE NO RIGHTS IN CERTAIN COUNTRIES -- THEY'RE THE SAME AS CATTLE!

So . . . we put those aside? Just because people can't get over themselves? Get a sense of humor? Take something in stride?

And what's up with me not being able to use "You people" while I'm refering to ANYONE (and they just happen to be black) but they can sit there and yell about "This is the black people's couch and white people aren't allowed!"

Who's racist now?

Listening

Well, right now, I'm watching TV and singing last year's choir and chorale songs.

Reading

Absolutely nothing. Although I hope to change that. Does my AP English textbook count?

Viewing

T.V., probably an archaeological, cryptozoology, true crime, or hauting show.
